OL
McCoy Would Verbal To Three
By: Mike Farrell,
Date: May 28, 2001
Big OL Blake McCoy knows three schools he might verbally commit to if
an offer comes. “I might verbal to Virginia, Boston College or
Virginia Tech if they offered,” the 6-4, 300-pound lineman from Calvert
Hall College HS (MD) said. “I like Virginia because they have a good
program and a great coach. BC coach (Keith) Willis has been very up
front with me and Virginia Tech will be a winning program for years
to come.”
McCoy doesn’t have any offers yet, but Maryland is trying to keep him
in state.“I would say Maryland, Virginia and BC are recruiting me the hardest,”
he said. “I like Maryland and staying home is a consideration as well.
They’ve been real nice to me”McCoy runs a 5.3 40 and bench presses 300 pounds. He was a First Team
All M.I.A.A. performer last season and made the Super 22 Team for the
Baltimore area.“I play with a lot of intensity but I keep my emotions under control,”
he said. “I try to wear my opponent down so he doesn’t want to play
anymore when the fourth quarter comes around.” McCoy will camp
at Maryland and BC this June. Note: Blake played for
the MUYFA Ravens as an 8th Grader in 1997!! It was his first year
playing football!! Blake the MUYFA is proud of you!!
